Craft a fun themed "IT"

at your next party!

This is rated a medium difficulty craft for ages 4-12.  About 10 years ago, I discovered a book on how to make these fun creatures and started making my own creations. The book is listed below for purchase.

I have used these as an opening craft for many children, school and holiday parties. My daughter and I also crafted them and sold them at school fairs and festivals. The cute dogs and pigs went fast, as well as holiday and sports ones.

Basic Materials:

• Yarn - Solid or multi color yarns

• Foam craft

• Cardboard to create your base for wrapping yarn and for feet and hand patterns

• Styrofoam Ball (cut in half)

• Foam cutter craft knife (makes it much easier...or a serrated knife)

• Tacky Craft Glue

• Scissors

• Decorative mini's, pom poms, fun foam craft shapes, pipe cleaners, colored paper, wiggle eyes and whatever other craft items you want to include on your creation.

To use as a party craft here are my suggestions:

1. Precut all Styrofoam in halves.

2. Precut feet and hands.

3. Precut yarn and glue to Styrofoam, for children under the age of 7 or for larger parties where time is an issue.

4. Precut any pipe cleaners to be used.

5. Use q-tips as an applicator for the glue and put glue in small nut paper cups, one for each child.

6. I used multiple compartment storage containers and put all the craft pieces that the kids can use to decorate their "IT".  I created several of these to put at different ends of the table for easy reach.
