Invitation Ideas

Leaf or Acorn Invitation Mini Pumpkin  
Use template and cut out two pieces per invite. Use a single hole punch on each leaf stem or acorn top and tie with a piece of raffia string. Write invite info inside.

Choose a corner of your yard to create a harvest atmosphere (see photo above).  Use straw bales for seating. State some steel rods or fence posts into the ground and tie corn stalks to them.  Tie colorful ribbon around the corn stalks.  Place oversized pumpkins at the foot of the stalks. Use bushel baskets filled with apples, mini pumpkins and gourds for decor.  Add or make your own scarecrows.  

Use small galvanized pails for serving snacks likes pretzels, apple chips, caramel popcorn, candy corn, etc.

This could be a group thing or a team race.

Leaf Pile Jumping

If you have leaves that have fallen rake them into pile for the kids to jump.

Pumpkin Decorating

Have a silly pumpkin decorating contest. You can provide the pumpkins, paint markers and some funny accessories. Make a bag for each team. They have to use whatever they are given to create a unique pumpkin character. Let the gang vote by applaud which pumpkin is the winner.

You will need:

  • newspaper

  • white paper

  • tempera paint

  • paint brushes

  • leaves

  • Old T-shirt to cover clothing

Spread out your newspaper on a table or floor. Place white paper with name on it on newspaper.

 

Roll up your sleeves and put on old t-shirt.

 

Pick a leaf from your collection and find the side where the veins are raised.

 

Paint the leaf.

 

Press the painted side of the leaf on the white paper. Spread the leaf flat.

Carefully lift the leaf.

Repeat as often as you want.

 

Lay on paper to dry and clean up.

Yarn Bugs

I found a book and it's site that showed how to make these and one year I went made them for all occasions.  I called them "ITS".  Just use your imagination and you can make them for theme.  I crafted my own patterns for feet, but you can buy them at this site.
